The background is composed of dark blue mountains and dense clouds. The expansive sky is rendered with gray & white clouds and glimpses of blue. Signed lower left. Signed and titled on reverse. The painting is presented in gesso decorated gilt frame with a linen liner.
Mary DeNeale Morgan (American,1868-1948) was a longtime California artist. She left a great legacy as a teacher and organizer, as well as a painter. She worked in pastel, tempera, oil and watercolor.
In 1928, the editors of Scribner's magazine named her as one of the nation's foremost women artists.
