a large brown round wax seal mounted on three brass prongs in a gilt shadow box frame lined and covered in golden mustard yellow marbled paper, this is the Third Great Seal of Queen Anne (1702-1714), she was the last Stuart monarch and the first monarch of the Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland after the signing of the Act of Union in 1707, the obverse side of the seal (shown) depicts Queen Anne seated on a throne, holding an orb and scepter, surrounded by her coat of arms, the reverse side of the seal includes the motto "Anne, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith", an Irish harp replaces the rose and thistle on the earlier version, the Great Seal was originally made from wax and attached to documents with a cord, the seal matrix would be destroyed after a monarch's death, this seal was used from 1707 to 1715, England, early 18th century.
