an Avant Garde Art Deco Tea Set designed by Jean G. Theobald and styled by Virginia Hamill for Wilcox Silver Plate Company in 1928. This was an extremely modern design for the time, extremely clever in concept, a complete compact tea set nestled in a circular tray as one easy to handle unit, it is made of nickel and silver plated, the handles and knobs are Bakelite. This was part of the Wilcox "Dinette Line" first developed by Wilcox staff designer Jean G. Theobald but the company brought in Virginia Hamill to refine and modernize the forms. Miss Hamill was one of the first female American industrial designers.
This is not just a tea set, it is a work of art.
