small Christ child / Baby Jesus very realistically and naturalistically carved and painted (polychromed) wood with inset glass eyes (brown), "swaddling clothes" (polka dotted cloth tied with a gold cord) cover the babe for modesty, also carved and painted, very well done, he has rosy cheeks and knees, he raises his right hand in a gesture of blessing, known in Christian iconography as the "Hand of Blessing", probably a figure from a creche / nativity scene, Italian, 2nd half of the 19th century
