A monumental Italian Renaissance cassettone with 3 drawers and a hinged lidded top, retaining its period polychrome painted arabesque decoration, over pine construction with 6 original iron drawer pulls and 2 keys.
Northern Italy, 16th or early 17th century.
NOTE: Significant losses, stains and abrasions to the finish typical of painted furniture of the period. There is no apparent evidence of recent restoration or in-painting. Structurally sound. Additional detail photos available on request.
