a highly carved Piedmontese side table / console (once gilded) with English demi-lune white marble and scagliola top with blue ribboned oak-leaf band within a pearled (pearl strings) edge above a laurel band and a pierced Grecian / Greek Key frieze (blind fretwork) apron divided by plain bardiglio marble plaques (grey), the whole supported on three turned strigillated legs headed (center leg) by an eagle on a strigal-fluted acanthus-wrapped sphere, on toupie feet, base Italy, top England, late 18th century, circa 1780s

this table's design relates to that of furniture designed by Giocondo Albertolli in the late 1780s for the Villa Reale at Monza (A. Gonzlez-Palacios, Il Tempio del Gusto, Milan, 1986, vol. II, fig.657)

this table's mate was sold by Christie's London in 2011,
