A period George III silver and coconut communion cup by English silversmith Charles Hougham (1748-1793). The coconut is carved extensively with a palm leaf pattern enclosed in crosshatched circles. The cup has a silver inner bowl and stands on a pedestal set on a circular domed foot. A later inscription on the base reads "E.M.F. 1811 to E.M.W. 1832 to E.M.B. 1892". Sold from collection of Sam Walker. E.M.F. is possibly Eleanor Mary Fitzwilliam of New York City. Makers marks on both rim and base. As found, England, circa 1789.
