this large tomb model / burial object is a dense grey ceramic (terra cotta) with traces of pigment and hollow interior as revealed under the tail, the beast stands four-square and lifts its head, its face and body are realistically depicted and there are curvilinear designs (longevity symbols) on its flanks, this type of large animal with enomous presence is associated with tombs from the Sichuan Province in Western China, China, Han Dynasty, 206 BC to 221 AD
