A large oil on canvas seascape titled A Rocky Coast by Thomas Rose Miles (English, 1844-1916), active 1869-1888, signed lower left T. R. MILES.
He specialized in marine scenes, often the N.E. coast of England. He worked in London and exhibited in the Royal Academy, Society of British Artists and others. He was popular among the working men of the ports, as he depicted their bravery.
