a handsome and sturdy French Empire-style throne-like fauteuil (arm chair) with silver and gold gilt decoration inspired by Napoleon's Egyptian Campaign 1798-1801, square back with carved splat that depicts a full quiver of arrows flanked by looped hunting horns and is carved both front and back (see images), arms are winged lions terminating in the lion's head, front legs terminating in lion's paw feet, acanthus leaves decorate each knee, the seat is upholstered in a raspberry damask with cream and gold stripes, United States, 20th century (after 1960)
