A George III eighteen inch celestial globe by W. and T.M. Bardin, dated 1800, in a mahogany tripod floor stand having graceful curved legs with brass caps and castors. the cartouche reads: to the Rev. Nevil Maskelyne, D.D., F.R.S. Astronomer Royal, this new British celestial globe containina the positions of nearly Nebulae, etc. correctly computed and laid down for the year 1800 from the latest observations and discoveries by Dr. Maskelyne, Dr. Herschel and the Rev. Mr. Wollaston etc. etc. is respectfully dedicated by his most obedient humble servents (sic) Wm + T.M. Bardin. England, early 19th century
