a beautiful mahogany commode with Chinoiserie decoration from the Parisian cabinet maker Mercier Frères, 100 rue du Faubourg, Saint-Antoine, Paris, the cabinet is serpentine form with shaped marble top and shaped doors with wonderful Chinoiserie / Far Eastern scenes, the doors open to a shelved interior with working brass lock and key, rounded corner stiles having ormolu mounts with shaped cabriole legs and further mounts with sabots, the shaped frieze has a decorative ormolu roundel with ormolu escutcheon above.
