a beautifully hand-carved Brienz "Black Forest" hall stand with a mother bear and her cub, this naturalistically carved hall stand depicts a standing bear next to a tree, with open mouth and glass eyes watching her cub in the branches above, two looped branches hold canes, walking sticks, and umbrellas, while the upper branches on each side are for hanging hats, scarves, jackets, etc. sculpted "Black Forest" carvings originated from the small town of Brienz in Switzerland, circa 1880
