A George II gilt carved wood mirror features a richly carved frame. The 5" wide frame features straight rails that are carved with compound bands, relief egg and dart motifs on the outside band, guilloche chain with fleurette motifs on the center band and a narrow relief floral and scroll motifs inner band. The bottom rail is also decorated with an open carved acanthus leaf spray that flanks the scallop shell motif pendant. The bottom corners are flanked with shaped brackets that are also decorated with oval rosette medallions and scrolling acanthus leaves. A cascade of relief carved husk flowers descends the length of the side rails. A 4" wide frieze of arabesque acanthus scrolls with petite fleurs among with niches and 2 large fleurette motifs, is placed below the double swan neck scroll pediment with cornice molding , rosette terminals that flank a relief carved mask of a lady placed on the plinth that supports a relief carved floral basket crest, England, mid-18th century
