a very large Dutch Market Armorial Charger with the Arms of Adriaan Valckenier (1695-1751) on a gold ground a blue pale charged with white and black (silver) branch with two crescents on either side, the crest is a rising pink falcon with a red hood, the rim is decorated with three sprays of flowering boughs and a small scalloped border. (some repairs) Adriaan Valckenier, Governor-General of the Indies 1737-41, was the leading member of the influential Valckenier Family, which was deeply involved with the (VOC) Dutch East India Company. He ordered at least 14 tea or dinner services or sets of vases, a number were lost at sea on journey home, Vongzheng / early Qianlong Period, circa 1735-40
